A variety of French origin, specifically from the Bordeaux region. It is also known as “vidure”, “petit bouschet”, “lafit”, etc. With its intense color, vigorous tannins and penetrating aroma, it is ideal for crianza wines. It is a variety of late budding and flowering and medium-late ripening period. Agriculturally, it is slightly sensitive to dry periods, and productive, although the grapes are small. It is highly adaptable and the fruit offers a homogenous quality. The skin is thick and tough, it has a high alcohol content, medium acidity and high color potential with a major concentration of complex tannins. Its characteristic aroma, reminiscent of red peppers, uniquely sets it apart from other varieties.
