The County, Climate
[Information of interest]  [Climate]  [The land and the vine]   [The vines]

The predominance of dry, particularly eastern and north-eastern winds, the wintertime protection of the mountains that ring the county, an average temperature of 14-15 ºC with a thermal variation that ranges from 6 ºC in January to the 23 ºC of July and August, with temperature oscillation that reaches 40 ºC at midday in summer, dropping to 12 ºC at night, make up the climatic context found in the county.

The average annual precipitation ranges from 450 to 600 millimeters, and there are 2,700 annual hours of insolation.

This climate, which renders rather frugal harvests, and the composition of the soil facilitate quality winemaking.

These factors, plus the low risk of plagues and the long ripening period (from mid-September to the end of October) bring the harvest to its optimum state.
